Dr Maria Kokosi is consultant in respiratory medicine at the Royal Brompton and Guy’s Hospitals and honorary clinical lecturer at Imperial College. Dr Kokosi completed her training in respiratory medicine in Greece in 2011. She joined the Royal Brompton Hospital as a clinical research fellow in 2012 and received a consultant post in 2018.
Her specialist interest is in Interstitial Lung Diseases, in particular rare lung disorders such as cystic diseases and pulmonary alveolar proteinosis. She leads the service for the rare cystic lung diseases as part of the Cystic Lung Disease Rare Disease Collaborative Network (RDCN).
She is actively involved in research and is the principal investigator in clinical trials in rare disorders. She is co-investigator for the LifeArc Centre for rare respiratory diseases.
She is the author of 78 peer-reviewed articles. She is a member of the ERS guideline committee on pulmonary alveolar proteinosis. Her focus is the provision of expert clinical care and the development of diagnostic and treatment algorithms and clinical trials.
