Overview

Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals offer six‑ and twelve‑month clinical fellowships for medical professionals seeking advanced experience in cardiology, respiratory medicine, cardiac surgery and thoracic surgery. Fellows would have the opportunity to work within the UK’s largest specialist heart and lung centre, gaining hands‑on clinical exposure, one‑to‑one mentorship, and opportunities to contribute to internationally recognised research.

What you will learn

Fellows become part of a multidisciplinary team and take part in:

Clinical Practice

  • Daily ward rounds
  • Outpatient clinics
  • Specialist MDT meetings
  • Procedural exposure (depending on specialty)

Skills Development

  • Advanced clinical decision‑making
  • Procedural competence
  • Communication and teamwork
  • Leadership and service improvement

Each fellow receives:

  • A named clinical supervisor
  • A personalised development plan
  • Regular feedback and progress reviews

 Areas of specialism, include but are not limited to:

  • Respiratory medicine
  • Cardiology
  • Cardiac surgery
  • Thoracic surgery
  • Paediatric respiratory and cardiothoracic medicine.

Entry requirements

Who can apply: Doctor, nurse or allied health professional with appropriate postgraduate experience.

Doctors are required to have equivalent experience to UK IMT/ST grades and above including a minimum one year of speciality training within the speciality applied for. GMC registered, or eligible to apply for registration.

All applicants: English language level of IELTS 7.
