Dr Manju Chandiramani, Consultant Obstetrician, will explore the management of both pre-existing and gestational diabetes in pregnancy from an obstetric perspective and discuss the current NICE guidance for management of women with diabetes in pregnancy.
Learning objectives Review the current NICE guidelines for management of women with diabetes in pregnancy, both pre-existing diabetes and gestational diabetes Explore pregnancy care management including investigations, scans, treatment options and appropriate birth plans Understand how to prepare women with pre-existing diabetes for pregnancy, their schedule of care throughout pregnancy and the value of the multidisciplinary team Use of various medications for both pre-existing and gestational diabetes Understand the potential risks to expectant mothers and how to effectively minimise these Postnatal care management both short and long term.
