“Hitting the vape”: The toxic consequences of Gen Z’s latest trend

Dr Samatha Sonnappa, consultant in paediatric respiratory medicine at Royal Brompton Hospital, will be holding a webinar focusing on “Vaping in children and young people and management in primary care”.

Learning objectives:

  1. What are e-cigarettes and what is in them?
  2. What is known about the acute toxicity of e-cigarettes?
  3. What is known about the long-term toxicity of e-cigarettes?
  4. Long term effects of nicotine addiction in children and young people
  5. Effects of vaping during pregnancy

Dr Sonnappa’s talk will outline the:

  1. Similarities and differences between e-cigarettes and tobacco
  2. What is known about the long term toxicity of e-cigarettes, and the ongoing concerns of the paediatric community
  3. Scientific studies that show e-cigarettes are not watered down tobacco, but have their own toxicities
  4. Absolute importance of a strategy to protect children and young people
