Paediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome (PIMS-TS) and COVID-19

The focus of this talk is to understand how paediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome affects the heart in paediatric patients after having COVID-19.  

• Understand the links between the multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children and the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). 
• Recognise dangerous and potentially lethal presentation. 
• Familiarise prompt recognition and the medical attention required. 
• Learn about early and long– term outcomes of this hyperinflammatory condition.  

Dr Carles Bautista is a consultant paediatric and interventional cardiologist at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals.  

Specialising in minimally invasive interventional procedures for paediatric and neonatal cardiology, he works as part of a team to provide a clinical service of excellence for children and adults with congenital or acquired heart disease.
