Dr Shruthi Konda

Dr Shruthi Konda is a consultant respiratory physician at the Royal Brompton Hospital. In addition to this role, she is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the National Heart and Lung Institute.

Dr Konda graduated from Imperial College in 2007. She continued with her postgraduate training in Respiratory and General Medicine within London, working within the Imperial College, St. George’s and the Royal Brompton Hospitals. 

Dr Konda also has a Bachelors degree with Honours in Management and Medical Sciences from Imperial College Business School, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education under her belt.

Dr Shruthi Konda specialises in all adult respiratory medicine and sleep disorders.

She has particular expertise in:

• Smoking related lung disease: emphysema and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
• Sleep disordered breathing: including snoring, obstructive sleep apnoea and obesity hypoventilation syndrome.
• The diagnosis and management of Respiratory Failure
• The use of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and Non-invasive Ventilation (NIV)

Dr Konda is an MRCP PACES examiner and has hosted examinations herself, on behalf of the Royal College of Physicians. A dedicated educator, Dr Konda has worked as Foundation Training Programme Director and as a Royal College of Physicians Tutor, overseeing around 130 post graduate medical trainees at a time.

She is an Educational Lead for the British Sleep Society and organises national and international courses and conferences. Dr Konda has also been elected to numerous committees at the Royal College of Physicians and works with colleagues to drive improvements in health and healthcare through advocacy and education. In October 2022, Dr Konda was appointed as the Linacre Fellow at the Royal College of Physicians.

 Dr Konda is often invited to speak and chair at national and international conferences. She is adding to her academic portfolio by authoring book chapters and publishing in peer reviewed journals.
